Ashley Harlock

Graduate Student

Ashley is a PhD student in neuroscience completing her thesis work in the Elahi lab, focusing on the molecular mechanisms of vascular dysfunction in chronic traumatic brain injury. Before moving to New York, Ashley grew up in Michigan and attended Michigan State University, where she double majored in Neuroscience and Human Biology while serving as captain of the Division 1 Field Hockey team and president of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. The highlight of her undergraduate research career was being awarded the MSU Honors College Hymen and Miriam Stein Scholarship to conduct an independent research project in the lab of Dr. AJ Robison on the effects of cocaine on endoplasmic reticulum stress in mice. Ashley was a finalist for the Marshall Scholarship in 2023, as well as a First Team Academic All-American in 2024. In her free time, Ashley loves trying new restaurants around the city as well as playing her guitar and singing for patients in the hospital as a member of the Sinai Music and Medicine club.
