Mariana Lemos Duarte, PhD
Senior Scientist | Manager of Fluid Biomarkers
Mariana earned her Ph.D. at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, followed by a postdoc at UC San Diego. Since 2017, she has worked at the Icahn School of Medicine as a postdoc at the Department of Pharmacological Sciences and an instructor at the Department of Neurology. Mariana worked to understand the molecular mechanisms of opioid addiction and identify new therapeutic targets for Alzheimer’s disease. Mariana has an extensive background in molecular pharmacology, multi-omics approaches, and protein-protein interactions. As a Senior Scientist and Manager of Fluid Biomarkers in the Elahi Lab, she supports cross-disciplinary research focused on improving diagnostics for neurodegenerative diseases.
