Stephen Fitzsimons, PhD

Stephen graduated with a BSc in Pharmacology from University College Dublin (UCD) in Ireland (2015) and was awarded a postgraduate scholarship from the Irish Research Council to complete his PhD in Immunology at UCD (2019). He went on to perform two postdoctoral fellowships at UCD and at RCSI under the mentorship of Professor Orina Belton and Dr. Claire McCoy investigating anti-inflammatory therapeutics, immune cells, microRNAs and extracellular vesicles in the context of chronic inflammation. In the Elahi Lab, Stephen works on modeling angiogenesis in vitro and identification of novel therapeutic targets for CADASIL.
