Todd Rubin, MD, PhD
Chief Neurology Resident
Dr. Todd Rubin is a physician-scientist with a strong interest in the risks and long-term consequences of repetitive head injury in sports. He completed his undergraduate studies at New York University before working as a research assistant in Dr. Bruce McEwen’s lab at Rockefeller University. He then pursued an MD/PhD at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where his doctoral research in Dr. Michael Lipton’s lab focused on investigating repetitive head injuries in soccer players and rats using diffusion tensor MRI.
Currently, Dr. Rubin is a research track neurology resident at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. His research explores susceptibility and resilience to repetitive head trauma and its potential role in the development of neurodegenerative disease. He will further specialize in this field as a Sports Neurology Fellow at UCLA, where he aims to advance understanding and prevention strategies for brain injury in athletes.
